Question by Edgar: panic/anxiety disorder from sleep apnea?
My doctor gave me this machine that I am suppose to have on when I sleep and I have to return it to him. I told him my random breathing interruption that I have and how it game me all this anxiety and panic disorder, no asthma, perfect healthy lungs, so he wants me to do this test and also a test to measure my breathing when I run and walk. anyways, does anyone know what sleep apnea is and if it can cause panic and anxiety, my doctor said that it always causes personality changes from an angry person to an extremely panic person and that it is very common. Im 19 male and have been having this shortness of breath for about 2 years now and its hell. But i never wake up in the middle of the night or anything, only 1 time of these 2 years

Well sleep apnea is a condition where you stop breathing for a short period of time in your sleep and it doesn't always wake you up. Some people it may, but I have seem my mom do it before and I think my husband saw me do it and it scared him half to death. Sleep apnea can cause personality changes, but usually panic and anxiety is what causes sleep apnea. Hope this helps a little. You can google sleep apnea and see if there are any home treatments that you could try. I don't have any solutions. Mine doesn't bug me. My mom had to buy a breathing mask and use it at night. My dad made her stop because it was too loud for him to sleep. I liked it when I still lived at home because then I couldn't hear him snore throughout the house at night.
