Question by lilrockchic2001: What is Deep Sleep Disorder?
My boyfriend is terrible at getting up on time or wakening up!
He can stay up to all hours of the morning and seen him waken up at 9am and go to bed at 6am.
The problem is, when his alarm sounds, he sleeps through it, its a very loud alarm and to test how bad his sleeping is, i have actually placed the sounding alarm on his ear (cause i was getting pissed off by this point of him not waking up) and he slept through it.
i have seen him sleep through a fire alarm and today he slept through his mobile, housephone, buzzer and chapping.
Is this ACTUALLY a disorder, i have never met someone who can sleep through all this and wake up as if nothing had happened, its actually really scary at times.
Sadly not typo! he has woken up at 9am and then not gone to bed till nearly 24 hours at 6am! :|

Is it possible he is hard of hearing?
I'm sure he must be after you putting the alarm on his hear, ha! (just kidding)
But anyway, you say he sometimes goes to sleep at 6am and wakes up at 9am? Or is that a typo and 6am is meant to be 6pm?
If this is true, then it's rather normal to be in a deep sleep after not having much sleep the night before. I sleep through my alarm because of that!
Yes, Deep Sleep Disorder is real.. it's a bunch of related sleeping disorders and can be caused by environmental or emotional changes
