Is this a sleeping disorder?

Question by Cayluhh: Is this a sleeping disorder? I accidentially fell aslepp at 7 in the evening one night. I slept until about 5 the next morning, then woke up, went to get some Nilla Cakesters and then I went back to sleep. I had a nightmare, and I tried waking up, but couldn't! It was like I was awake in my dream but In real life I wasn't. When I finally woke up, and looked at something I saw what had been in my dreams. I was scared, but I went back to sleep. Anyone know what this might be?? Thanks! :]

Hey. Yes, this does sound like a sleeping disorder. You should see your local GP but for the time being here are some tips... Try to stay quite still when you sleep (fidgeting makes it much worse). Also eating just before you sleep is bad because your body concentrates its energy on digesting the food and not on trying to get to sleep. Coffee is the worst thing you can ingest before sleeping as it will keep you up for a seriously long time.I find that reading tires out my eyes, so I do that if I'm having trouble sleeping. Trying to get to sleep in a dark or semi-dark room is very good, never try to fall asleep in a fully lighted room. If your tired in the afternoons I find that holding out (refraining from sleeping) until around 6pm then having a shower will keep you up until around 11pm, and then you should doze off quite easily. Off coarse none of these things are a guarantee, but I find they help. I hope this helps you!

Can my Dad die from sleep apnea?

Question by new2sk8ing: Can my Dad die from sleep apnea? Well, i dont really much about it, but my mom just recently left to visit her grandmother, and my dad has sleep apnea. she told me to sleep with him to make sure he is alright, and im 16 so doing so would be kind of awkward, and i move around alot when im trying to sleep, so i wouldnt want to prevent him from falling asleep. so can anything bad happen if my dad isnt being watched when he sleeps? he has a CPAP machine btw
